Short Quote For Success In Life

I was watching a short clip of an interview from Ken Griffin the founder of Citadel. He came across a plaque which had a life changing quote for him. The plaque had these words written on it “if we are all going to eat, one of us need to sell"
I thought how true these words on this short quote are. In fact, it is something that he wanted to be reminded often. Today, the company manages $63 billion in assets. I think without being able to sell, they would have not reached this level.
The principle behind the success of this company is that selling is not only limited to products or services. In fact as leaders we also sell :
✅ Vision for people to follow
✅ Ideas as solution to problems
✅ Direction to take
The short quote for success in life reminds us that to be truly successful in life we need to know how to sell. Selling is about the ability to influence people. Whenever you share a vision, drive change, or motivate a team, you are still selling.
If you are effective in the selling, people will follow the vision, adopt the ideas and embrace the direction to take. In order to be effective, we need to follow proven principles and techniques that help us to do that.
Selling is a skill and it is something that we become good at it over time as we practice the principles and the techniques. One of the approaches to have when you are selling is that, “it’s not about you but it’s about them”.
I believe it is very important to be reminded of this often because if we are not helping people to solve their problems then we will be very away from success. The more you practice this approach the better you become when you think about selling.
Selling could be anything from a product to a vision or an idea but what matters is, how it helps improve the lives of those who embrace the vision, buy the product or subscribe to the service. There has to be a value to it.
The more value there is, the more improvement that can be seen. As people recognize the improvement they became your ambassador in helping you to sell your ideas, vision, products and services.
The key is for you to realize “if we are all going to eat, someone has to sell” get good at it, practice it, prioritize it!
